Cobra Snake

Aix brought to you Cobra Snake style. Please don’t let me drink rum. Please don’t let me out in public. And God please extend the same courtesy to my immediate friends so none of us have to nurse a 3 day hangover ever again. I think Mark Hunter would be proud ;-)

P.S. I do believe Alice stole the Carlsberg sign as a housewarming gift for Mark..... hummmm we are all probably going to hell.

Worklife

Darn it! Contrary to the image I was trying to create, it now actually looks like my friends are rapidly disappearing. Today I'm officially an employee of the French Minister of Defense. Sounds kinda kickass doesn't it hehe

Ode to Doty

I love moving around and trying new cities and countries on for size, especially one's where excessive drinking and eating is inbuilt in their culture. However being a roamer kinda has its downsides too, like the fact suitcases and backpacks are only limited in size and you can't squash all your family and friends in there as well as the 17 pairs of shoes you want to take. What I'm trying to say is I miss Dorothy!!

Looking at me looking at you

Whooooza this past month has just been mental and I have no idea where to start or what the very random photos of my friends taking photos of me taking photos of them has anything to do with the uneducated ramblings of this post. Anyhow my current place of residence is Aix en Provence, a small spa town in the south of France. I'm working very little, drinking lots of coffee and wearing stripped tees like a good french lady would. I've signed up to a photography course so that I can finally learn how to use my beast of a camera (allbeit in French) and am taking modern and african dance lessons (yes watching me dance is really as hilarious as you think it might be). Hope to share lots more photos and anecdotes when I've finally got settled and into a normal routine so until then my friends.

Current

Not really doing much at the moment as I'm moving to the south of France 1 week today and everything is on the wind down. I'm just making lists and lists of lists I need to make (I like lists, almost as much as I like packing, ohhhh and tea) and collating every item of stripy clothing I own and red berrets in order to look as French as possible. So her is a few things I've been diggin' of late. Fun times fun times.

Macaroons from Ladurée, especially Rose flavour, thanks Harrods!

Beach daze

Bank holiday Monday on the beach with Emily. I don't know how I managed to get sand in everywhere when I didn't even sit down on the dam beach. Suppose I should just be happy it didn't end up in my knickers. Credit crunch has hit the beach as donkey rides have been subject to severe inflation; £2 for a ride, used to be like 20p didn't it...?

Ice cream covered in hundreds and thousands with a fudge stick
"cough cough"

Tacky souvenirs (salt and pepper shakers)

Donkey rides at £2 a pop

Surfer dude

Surfing is the act of riding down a breaking wave, gathering speed from the downward and forward movement. It also translates to extreme hilarity when I'm involved as despite the number of lessons I've had and the time invested by my loyal and extremely patient friends I still suck, bad! The first photo is of me learning to surf when I was about 8 or so. The other 2 are of my friend Gen who is a kickass surfer of whom I am insanely jealous as she is the epitome of cool. Alas I am more of a "all the gear but no idea" type of gal, so in effect I look exactly like I know what I'm doing until I get in the water. Hummm.... we can't all be cool now can we ;-)

Killer Queen

My rents and I went to see Queen play at Castle Howard for an evening of rock, champagne and middle aged men playing air guitar! As it turns out, combining the stars from a smash hit West End musical (We Will Rock You), a 60 piece symphony orchestra, a rock band, the grounds of one of the grandest private residences in Britain and about £100,000 worth of fireworks is quite a good idea. Favourite Queen song? A Kind of Magic, Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love, Who Wants To Live Forever, Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me Know, Fat Bottomed Girls and I Want It All? TOO HARD TO CHOOSE!
Champagne picnic in the grounds of the castle before the concert
Holey socks
My dad hit the booze hard
But maybe a little too hard (ohh and notice how beautiful the
castle is in the background)
Light your lanterns when the sun goes down
My dad and I
Mum, Mike and Sophia watching the concert (this is before they
started doing some very inappropriate air guitar moves)
The newly purchased IKEA solar charged lanterns come up trumps
The 90 piece orchestra and the rock band
Fireworks at the end
Head torches at the ready so we can find our way home in the dark!
.
Ohh and if you were wondering, my air guitar skills rock, I've been taught by the best. Cough cough!

This is why you're fat

This would by my addition to This is why you're fat : toad in the hole with baked beans (i.e. sausages, in my case vegi ones, cooked in a Yorkshire Pudding which is like pancake batter but baked in the oven rather than cooked a pan like a pancake would be). My sister made it for dinner last week and you know what, it was lush!

Doughnuts to delish to slightly inebriated

Just listening to Florence and The Machine and still laughing at this catastrophic waste of doughnuts!

Fotos from the best meal I've eaten in a long long long time. Mixed seafood and pasta with peas with a Aperol spritz and 2 litres of cheap Italian red plonque to wash it all down. Yum!
